SYNOPSIS
A Holter monitor (or heart rate recorder) is a portable electronic device that records the heart’s electrical activity. After losing her father, Angeliki suffers from tachycardia. She has never worn a Holter monitor herself. Every night she wakes up at roughly the same time after specific dreams that make her heart race. One night, just like with the dreams, at exactly the same time, with a phone call from the hospital, her doctor announces the death of her beloved father. Angeliki seems to have been expecting this; she has been preparing for it for about two years. When she is forced to wear the Holter monitor herself, she is called upon to experience an unprecedented metaphysical journey. The placement of the Holter monitor on her body opens a passage to another reality, to the unconscious part of her dreams. The Holter monitor frames her like a grid, showing her the path. She determines thesound based on her heartbeats. She has found a way to connect with metaphysical anxiety, images of the past, and memory. The muscle of her own heart mixes the unconscious into a flashback within the present and the past recorded in her body. The heartbeats recorded by the machine give the memories a sound and an end. They take her for 24 hours to her father, giving her a second chance to say goodbye.
